EU & Competition
We advise clients on the full spectrum of EU and competition law matters, including merger control, antitrust compliance, investigations, state aid and sector-specific regulatory issues.
Our Expertise
Our EU & Competition team provides strategic and practical guidance on navigating complex EU and national competition frameworks, helping clients manage regulatory risk, engage with competition authorities and structure transactions and commercial arrangements in a compliant manner. We combine cross-border capability with in-depth knowledge of the enforcement priorities of the European Commission and national competition authorities.
We advise clients on merger control assessments and coordinate merger notifications before the European Commission and national competition authorities, including the management of multi-jurisdictional filing processes. Our team also supports clients in assessing and implementing competition-law compliant commercial practices, advising on distribution systems, pricing structures, vertical and horizontal cooperation arrangements, information-sharing and other market-conduct rules.
In the context of investigations and enforcement proceedings, we assist clients with dawn raids, internal reviews, responses to requests for information and the development of defence strategies in proceedings before the European Commission or national authorities. We also advise on state aid rules, including compliance assessments, notification requirements, exemptions and the structuring of public funding arrangements.
Our work further includes reviewing and drafting commercial agreements to ensure compliance with EU and national competition law, including distribution, licensing, franchising, procurement, joint-venture and strategic collaboration arrangements. Where disputes arise, we represent clients in proceedings before national competition authorities and the European Commission, as well as in administrative appeals and competition-related litigation, including matters involving alleged abuse of dominance, cartel conduct or follow-on damages claims.
We also advise businesses operating in regulated sectors subject to heightened EU oversight — including energy, telecommunications, technology, transport and financial services — assisting them in navigating regulatory frameworks, market-access requirements and competition-law considerations affecting their operations.
