Digital Nomad Visa: Residence Opportunities for Remote Professionals
Cyprus continues to attract remote professionals through the Cyprus Digital Nomad Visa, a residence permit designed for non-EU and non-EEA nationals who work remotely using telecommunications technology. Introduced in 2021 and administered by the Cyprus Migration Department, the scheme allows eligible professionals employed by companies abroad or self-employed individuals with clients outside Cyprus to reside in the country while maintaining their international work activities. Applicants must demonstrate a minimum net monthly income of €3,500 and submit their application within three months of arrival in Cyprus.
The permit is initially granted for one year and can be renewed for up to two additional years, while also allowing family members such as spouses and minor children to reside in Cyprus. Digital nomads who spend more than 183 days in the country may qualify as Cyprus tax residents and potentially benefit from favourable tax provisions. The programme remains limited to a maximum of 500 permits, reinforcing Cyprus’s aim to attract highly mobile professionals and strengthen its position as an appealing destination for remote work.
